JOEL'S PRO TIP

Fourteen mineral elements are essential for growth; while many occur naturally, high-yielding crops often need supplemental fertility. Soil testing helps guide fertilization decisions.

ABOUT JOEL

Joel Hagen has worked in the agricultural industry for more than 30 years. As the son of a farmer, Joel specialized in farm production, cover crop management and soil fertility. Joel has experienced immense success listening, assessing and finding solutions to his customers’ toughest problems. He has accumulated his extensive product knowledge and application from 20 years in agronomy management. This includes crop nutrition, pest management, and crop and animal health. Alfalfa and forage production are his passions.

Joel has spent the last 15 years in the forage and cover crop field. He has learned so much along the way, especially about the diversity of seeds and plants  and when to recommend each type. Moisture, pH, soil type, and geography influence forage production and quality of crops.
