RODEO Kentucky bluegrass is a three-way blend of Kentucky bluegrass cultivars selected specifically for their drought and heat tolerance. This Kentucky bluegrass blend is designed for the transition zone of the United States, thriving in a variety of climates with moderate to low water requirements. This blend utilizes three Texas hybrid cultivars of Kentucky bluegrass – ‘United’, ‘SPF 30’, and ‘Blue Gem’, combining the pristine aesthetics of Kentucky bluegrass with the exceptional drought tolerance of Texas bluegrass. These cultivars also provide excellent disease resistance, density, and dark green color.

Rodeo Kentucky bluegrass is perfect for lawns that experience both hot summers and cooler winters, where residents want an option for a beautiful, resilient lawn with a soft foot feel. Kentucky bluegrasses are also able to thrive with a low height-of-cut, as low as ~0.5 inches with proper management. This blend is a perfect fit for folks who love Kentucky bluegrass but live in a warmer transition zone climate, or for folks who simply want a bluegrass option with improved drought/heat tolerance.

Seeding Rate

New Lawn Renovation: 2-4 lbs. per thousand sqft

Overseeding: 2-3 lbs. per thousand sqft

Estimated Spreader Setting: 5 (new lawn), 4 (overseeding)

*Note, spreader settings vary from model to model and person to person. Be sure to keep your desired seeding rate (pounds per thousand square feet) in mind when seeding. Spreader settings assume a 1-15 range on the spreader dial.
